WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO
Theater is tradition. It is grand. It is old. It is young. It is contemporary. It can be many things. Stagnant, yet evolving. Abstract, still absolute. Magical, but also real. The list is simply too exhaustive, and individual experiences just too varied. But we can all agree that the best part is you - the live audience. It's the basic truth about all theatre. Audience is always king, without exception or debate. At all times. In every setting. So, it only makes sense that we use this opportunity to directly address our beloved audiences and convey a few words about Nataka Chaitra.
Nataka Chaitra is a festive celebration of Kannada theatre. We are a vibrant group of like-minded people who share in our love and enthusiasm for the performing arts.
In 2009, we formulated an objective: to showcase high caliber theatrical performances to the Kannada community in the US. A year later, in 2010, this concept turned into reality when we successfully organized our first event. Thus, Nataka Chaitra was born, and it has been our great pleasure engaging with and entertaining Kannada audiences in San Francisco Bay area ever since. We stage two Kannada plays during the course of each show and proceeds from the show go towards charity.

We are honored to have patrons all over the US. We have performed at events organized by prestigious Kannada organizations from major cities in the US. We are thankful to the hosts and audience for the all the love!
10th ANNIVERSARY
NatakaChaitra-10-Anniversary-Souvenir.pdf2020 marks the 10th year of Nataka Chaitra. We celebrated our 10th year by releasing a souvenir commemorating Nataka Chaitra's journey. Padmashri award winner Smt. B. Jayashree released Nataka Chaitra’s 10th anniversary book after the performance of Jasma Odan on Feb 8th, 2020. You can download the book by clicking here.
CHARITY
Giving back to the community is a core part of Nataka Chaitra's mission. We believe that theater uplifts the community on and off the stage. Nataka Chaitra is a registered 501 (c) (3) and the proceeds of our shows continue to benefit several non-profit organizations.
